Building a Scenario — Step by Step

Name & Classify

Give the scenario a name and a briefing description, then a difficulty and a category so it sits in the right place in your program.

Basic, Intermediate or Advanced, plus a 1 to 5 level
Categories such as Residential, Commercial, Master Stream, Draft, Relay Pumping and Foam
Link one of your registered apparatus, and trainees run it on that truck’s panel
An optional prerequisite scenario, used when PumpForge suggests what to run next

Configure Water Supply

Pick the water source and describe it. PumpForge models how each supply behaves for the whole evolution.

Hydrant: static and residual pressure, test flow, maximum flow, supply hose size and length
Tank: booster tank capacity
Draft: vertical lift, suction hose size and length, with priming

Add Discharge Lines

Add up to 20 discharge lines. Each one is set up and scored on its own.

Hose from 1" booster line to 5" LDH
Length, flow, nozzle pressure and elevation per line
Appliances such as a gated wye or standpipe
Foam eductor lines, and a weight to make one line count more than another

Set Pass/Fail Criteria

Decide what passing looks like. PumpForge scores every run against your settings automatically.

Pressure tolerance and passing score
Time limit and maximum attempts
Optional pass lines of its own for the calculated PDP and the pressure held
Instructors can override a score afterwards, with a written reason

Configure Grading Weights

Share 100 points across nine categories: PDP accuracy, safety, intake monitoring, flow balance, priming, vacuum monitoring, foam proportion, relay pressure and elevation calculation. Weights are saved per scenario, so each evolution can stress different skills.

Preview, Publish & Assign

Preview the correct PDP for every line before you save, so you know exactly what trainees will be graded against. Publish it, then assign it to one trainee or many at once, with an optional due date.

Multi-Category Scoring

Every run is scored automatically. PumpForge checks the PDP the trainee calculated, the pressure they actually held at the panel, and safety, then adds any extra categories you weighted. Instructors see the full breakdown on the After Action Report.

What can I configure in a custom scenario?

A name, description, difficulty and category; an optional apparatus and prerequisite; the water supply (hydrant, tank or draft) and its details; up to 20 discharge lines, each with its own hose size, length, flow, nozzle pressure, elevation, appliances and weight; and the time limit, attempts, pressure tolerance, passing score and scoring weights.

How are custom scenarios scored?

Automatically, when the run ends. The PDP the trainee locked in is checked against the correct figure, the pressure they held is checked the same way, and safety and any extra categories you weighted are added in. Every run comes with a full After Action Report.

Who can build custom scenarios?

Instructors and department admins, on the Complete plan. They can assign a scenario to one trainee or many at once, with an optional due date.
