Scenario Builder Walkthrough

Build evolutions that match your apparatus, hose loads, and response area. Every parameter is configurable. Department License users can build unlimited custom scenarios.

Building a Scenario — Step by Step
01

Name & Classify

Give the scenario a name, select difficulty (Recruit / Operational / Company Officer), and set the apparatus type.

  • Recruit, Operational, Company Officer tiers
  • Apparatus type links scenario to matching panel
  • Description field for instructor briefing notes
02

Configure Water Supply

Select the water source and define its characteristics. PumpForge models the hydraulic behaviour of each supply type accurately throughout the evolution.

  • Hydrant: static pressure and residual flow
  • Tank: onboard capacity and flow rate
  • Draft: lift height and static source depth
  • Relay: incoming pressure and supply flow
03

Add Discharge Lines

Configure up to four discharge lines. Each line is independent — hose size, length, nozzle type, and target pressure set individually.

  • Hose: 1.75", 2.5", 3" or LDH supply
  • Nozzles: smooth bore, combination, automatic
  • Length and elevation change per line
  • Appliances: gated wye, siamese, monitor
04

Set Pass/Fail Criteria

Define what passing looks like. PumpForge scores every run against your configured parameters automatically.

  • Configurable tolerance window for PDP accuracy
  • Minimum time on target pressure
  • Maximum attempts before lockout
  • Allow instructor override on borderline passes
05

Configure Grading Weights

Adjust the weight of each grading category to match your department’s priorities. Weights must total 100%. Saved per-scenario so different evolutions can emphasise different skills.

06

Publish & Assign

Publish the scenario to make it available. Assign to individual trainees or entire groups with an optional due date. Trainees see assigned scenarios at the top of their dashboard queue.

Multi-Category Scoring
PumpForge evaluates each simulation across multiple grading categories — including PDP accuracy, safety compliance, flow management, and operational technique. Every category is scored automatically from simulation data. Instructors can adjust category weights per scenario and review the full breakdown on the After Action Report.
Common Questions

Scenario Builder questions, answered

What can I configure in a custom scenario?
Name and difficulty tier (Recruit, Operational, or Company Officer), apparatus type, water supply (hydrant, tank, draft, or relay), up to four independent discharge lines with their own hose size, length, nozzle and target pressure, pass/fail tolerances, and grading weights.
How are custom scenarios scored?
Every run is scored automatically across multiple grading categories, including PDP accuracy, safety compliance, flow management, and operational technique, using the tolerances and category weights you set per scenario.
Who can build custom scenarios?
Department License users can build unlimited custom scenarios and publish them to individual trainees or entire groups with an optional due date.
